Too Fast measures how fast you speak. It does that on your own device and keeps nothing you say.
Your voice
- The microphone is analysed live, on the device it belongs to: your computer, your iPhone, or the browser tab you opened. Only numbers come out of it, such as syllables per second.
- Audio is never recorded, saved or uploaded. There is no server that receives it.
- You need to allow microphone access. You can turn it off any time in your system settings.
What is stored
- Desktop app: your settings, your calibration and a summary of each session (pace over time, no audio), in the app's own folder on your computer.
- iPhone app: your settings and calibration on the phone.
- Browser version: your settings in the browser's local storage on that device.
None of it is sent to us. We do not run accounts, analytics or advertising.
Computer, iPhone and Watch together
- When the iPhone follows your computer, the readings travel over your local network. They are protected by a six digit pairing code that only your computer shows. Anyone without the code cannot see or control your computer.
- Nothing goes through the internet. The two devices talk to each other directly.
- The Apple Watch app starts a workout session so it can keep tapping your wrist while your arm is down. It reads no health data and writes none beyond that session.
- On a Mac, the app can ask Keynote or PowerPoint whether a presentation is running, to start on its own. It reads nothing from your slides.
